(April 1 through October 31) Compensation: Hourly Rate: $30.00 to
$35.00 per hour. Reports To: Camp Director About Larchmont Yacht
Club Larchmont Yacht Club is one of the nation’s premier yacht
clubs, known for excellence in sailing, sportsmanship, and
community. Set on a picturesque 11-acre waterfront campus along
Long Island Sound and just 16 miles from New York City, the Club
offers a rare blend of tradition, recreation, and family-centered
programming. At the heart of the Club’s youth offerings is Camp
Seagull, a highly regarded children’s summer camp that has become a
cornerstone of the member experience. Camp Seagull provides a
dynamic and engaging environment where children build confidence,
develop skills, and form lasting friendships. Daily programming
includes sailing, swimming, arts and crafts, outdoor games, team
challenges, and creative exploration. Safety, inclusion, and fun
are central to everything we do, supported by experienced
leadership and a strong sense of community. Position Summary The
Seasonal Assistant Camp Director plays a key leadership role in the
planning, execution, and overall success of Camp Seagull. Working
closely with the Camp Director and Youth and Family Activities
Manager, this position supports day-to-day camp operations while
helping to shape a high-quality, engaging, and safe camp experience
for campers, families, and staff. This role is ideal for an
experienced camp professional who enjoys leading people, managing
programs, and being part of a collaborative leadership team. The
Assistant Camp Director is actively involved in staff recruitment
and training, program planning, parent communication, and
operational oversight, while also contributing to long-term
planning and continuous improvement of the camp program. Key
Responsibilities Program Leadership and Operations Support the Camp
Director in planning, organizing, and delivering a well-structured,
engaging summer camp program Assist with the development and
implementation of daily schedules, activity plans, and camp
procedures Help ensure all programming is age-appropriate,
inclusive, and aligned with Camp Seagull and Club values Staff
Recruitment, Training, and Support Assist in recruiting,
interviewing, hiring, and onboarding camp counselors, instructors,
and support staff Support staff training initiatives focused on
safety, child development, communication, and leadership Provide
ongoing guidance, feedback, and support to staff to promote strong
performance and morale Camper and Family Experience Support camper
enrollment and registration processes, including application
tracking and record management Serve as a point of contact for
parents, assisting with communication related to schedules,
policies, and camper experience Help address camper behavior
concerns and parent questions in a professional and
solution-oriented manner Safety, Compliance, and Risk Management
Assist in implementing and enforcing all safety policies and
emergency procedures Ensure compliance with New York State and
Westchester County Department of Health regulations Support
incident documentation and follow-up as needed Administrative and
Financial Support Assist with weekly payroll preparation and
timekeeping oversight Support budget tracking, purchasing, and
invoice reconciliation Maintain accurate records related to staff,
campers, and program operations Collaboration and Strategic Support
Work closely with Camp Co-Chairs and Club leadership to ensure
program alignment with Club standards and expectations Assist with
the preparation and communication of end-of-season reports and
program evaluations Qualifications Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in education, recreation, youth development, or a
related field preferred Previous experience in camp administration,
youth program leadership, or seasonal operations preferred Strong
leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills Excellent
communication skills with the ability to build trust with children,
parents, staff, and Club members Knowledge of child development and
experience managing age-diverse groups CPR and First Aid
certification or willingness to obtain prior to camp operations
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including special events
Additional Information This is a full-time seasonal leadership
position with responsibilities that extend beyond the summer camp
session to include pre-season planning and post-season wrap-up. The
