Description Culinary Arts Program Specialist Camp Seagull at Larchmont Yacht Club Larchmont, New York Summer 2026 Seasonal Position $18.00 to $22.00 per hour Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 3:30 pm Reports to: Camp Director About Larchmont Yacht Club and Camp Seagull Larchmont Yacht Club is one of the country’s most respected private yacht clubs, known for its sailing tradition and strong family community. Situated on 11 scenic waterfront acres along Long Island Sound, just outside New York City, the Club provides an exceptional summer setting for children to learn, explore, and grow. Camp Seagull is the heart of our youth programming. Designed for children from preschool through 4th grade, the camp offers a well-balanced mix of sailing, swimming, sports, creative arts, hands-on learning, and outdoor play. Our culinary arts program introduces young campers to foundational kitchen skills, healthy habits, and the joy of creating something they can share with others. We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Culinary Arts Program Specialist to lead this important part of our summer experience. Position Summary The Culinary Arts Program Specialist designs and leads engaging, age-appropriate cooking and food education experiences for campers ages preschool through 4th grade. This role is ideal for culinary instructors, family and consumer science teachers, early childhood educators, chefs, nutrition educators, and food professionals who enjoy working with young children. You will introduce foundational cooking skills, basic nutrition concepts, kitchen safety, and creative food projects in a way that is accessible and fun. The ideal candidate understands how to translate culinary knowledge into developmentally appropriate lessons while maintaining structure, safety, and enthusiasm. Key Responsibilities Design and implement a structured culinary arts curriculum tailored to preschool and elementary-age campers Teach foundational kitchen skills such as measuring, mixing, simple food preparation, and safe tool handling Introduce basic nutrition concepts and encourage healthy food exploration Lead hands-on cooking projects that build confidence, creativity, and teamwork Adapt lessons to meet the developmental needs and attention spans of younger children Ensure strict adherence to food safety, allergy awareness, and sanitation protocols Maintain an organized, clean, and safe instructional space Manage food inventory and coordinate supply needs with camp leadership Collaborate with fellow specialists to integrate culinary activities into camp themes and special events Participate in staff training, meetings, and camp-wide programming Ideal Background We welcome candidates with experience in: Culinary instruction or youth cooking programs Family and consumer science education Early childhood or elementary education Nutrition education Camp or recreational youth programming Professional kitchen experience with an interest in teaching This role is especially appealing to teachers seeking a summer position aligned with their professional skills, culinary professionals looking to expand into youth instruction, and graduate students in education, nutrition, or hospitality management.
