Cleveland Marriott East boasts 298 guest rooms, 13,000 sq ft of
event space, M Club, restaurant, and a bar. What you will have an
opportunity to do: POSITION PURPOSE: Solicit and book Banquet and
Catering functions resulting in customer satisfaction and
profitability. Market the catering and event services to increase
revenue for rooms only clients. Train, supervise and work with
catering sales staff. Work directy with cients to detail their
events to ensure client satisfaction. Pay is comensurate with
experience , starting range is from $75,000-$85,000 plus bonuses
when goals are attained, bonus is paid quarterly. Position offers a
generous bonus program excellent benefits and a great team
environment. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: -Organize and conduct staff
meetings to coordinate successful functions. -Solicit new accounts
and review previous banquet files to generate business. Oversee
service of group functions once they are in house. - Write Banquet
menus, memos, and send out Event Orders. Review and revise Catering
Department guarantee sheets, weekly events sheets. Formulate and
make revisions to annual and monthly forecasts. - Negotiate,
Prepare and write contracts and enter information into the CI -
Meet with and Interact with clients to determine needs and direct
staff accordingly. - Respond to telephone and walk-in inquiries of
potential guests. Other: Regular attendance in conformance with the
standards, which may be established by Pyramid Hotel Group from
time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this
position. Employees with irregular attendance will be subject to
disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees
may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business
needs of the hotel. Upon employment, all employees are required to
fully comply with Pyramid Hotels Group rules and regulations for
the safe and efficient operation of hotel facilities. Employees who
violate Hotel rules and regulations will be subject to disciplinary
action, up to and including termination of employment. SUPPORTIVE
FUNCTIONS: In addition to performance of the essential functions,
this position may be required to perform a combination of the
following supportive functions, with the percentage of time
performing each function to be solely determined by the supervisor
based upon the particular requirements of the hotel. - Maintains
vacation schedule for proper staffing. - Performs other duties as
requested, such as attending outside V.I.P. parties and social
events. - Attend menu, staff, and other Hotel meetings. - Perform
duties of Manager On Duty Program as scheduled. - Participate in
the sales/catering department reader board program. What are we
looking for? SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY The
individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and
abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can
perform the essential functions of the job, with or without
reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills
and abilities. - Thorough knowledge of food and beverage products,
proper preparation and presentation of foods and beverage items. -
Ability to prepare signage for Catering functions. - Ability to
grasp, lift and/or carry, or otherwise move goods weighing a
maximum of 30 lbs. on an occasional basis. - Ability to read, write
and speak effectively in English to comprehend and communicate job
functions. - Ability to create special themes and menus. - Ability
to effectively deal with internal and external customers, some of
whom will require high levels of patience, use tact and diplomacy
to defuse anger, collect accurate information and resolve
conflicts. - Ability to perform the role of Manager On Duty. What
are we looking for? QUALIFICATION STANDARDS Education: Any
combination of education, training or experience that provides the
required knowledge, skills and abilities. College education
preferred. Experience: Two years combined prior Catering Sales and
supervisory experience preferred. Minimum of one year supervisory
experience or 3-5 years comparable catering, hospitality or related
experience. Licenses or Certificates: Ability to obtain any
government required licenses or certificates. Grooming: All
employees must maintain a neat, clean and well groomed appearance
(specific standards available). Other: Additional language ability
preferred. Note: The hotel functions seven (7) days a week and
twenty-four (24) hours per day. All employees, both management and
hourly, must realize this fact and be aware that at times it may be
necessary to move an employee from their accustomed shift as
business demands. ZR500 Compensation: $78,000.00 - $85,000.00
